NAHF Continues to Focus on Establishing Relationships


National Association of Hispanic Firefighters, President Alberto Olmos and Executive VP Sammy Chavira, attended the National Council of La Raza Conference in Los Angeles earlier this month. An opportune meeting was arranged with the mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa. The meeting was a reciprocal welcome and introduction.

The NCLR Conference provided President Olmos and VP Chavira an opportunity to meet with some of the most influential leaders in the United States including, President NCLR Janet Murguia, President UFW Arturo Rodriquez, Founder and past President of the NCLR Raul Yzaguirre, NCLR Board Member Daniel Ortega, President & CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Harry Garewall, Edison Southern California Executive Joe Aldrete.

They remained focused on their internal goals in the Fire Service and were honored to meet with the President LA City Firefighters Local 112 Patrick McOsker, LA City Bomberos President Ben Flores, President LA County Firefighters Local 1014 David Gillotte and LA County Bomberos President Ben Hernandez. “Our Hermanos from Southern California welcomed us with open arms” stated VP Chavira. President Olmos and VP Chavira were privileged to break bread and engaged in productive dialogue. “We must continue to reach out to our Brothers and Sisters, dialogue is the key to our future success” stated President Olmos.
